How to maintain and upkeep a water bath pot on a daily basis?

发布时间:2026-04-29 13:56:53 浏览量:

Water bath is one of the most commonly used heating instruments in laboratories, which uses water as the liquid medium and relies on a constant temperature controller to adjust the thermal balance of the instrument, keeping the temperature in the water bath constant within a specified range. Water bath pots can be used for drying, concentration, distillation, impregnation of chemical reagents and drugs, as well as for temperature experiments such as constant temperature heating.

1、 How to maintain a water bath pot?

Before using the water bath, check if the power socket and instrument plug are in good contact; Check if all buttons and knobs on the water bath are functioning properly. Maintain a well ventilated environment in the laboratory.

2. The outer shell of the water bath pot must be effectively grounded during use. Before turning on the power, water must be added to the pot and dry burning is strictly prohibited. When using, it is necessary to strictly prevent water and liquids from overflowing into the control box from the water bath.

3. After each use, the water in the water bath should be drained, and any debris inside the water bath should be cleaned with a brush, soft cloth, etc. The inside and outside of the water bath should be wiped clean and dried. Regularly maintain and repair the water bath pot every month.

If the indicator light of the water bath is not on, you can first unplug the power supply and check if the fuse or indicator light of the instrument is burnt out. If it is burnt out, replace it with the same model and specification of accessories. If there is a malfunction in the wires or other electrical components, please contact a professional for repair and do not dispose of them on your own.

5. When using a constant temperature water bath, the amount of water in the pot should not be less than half, ensuring that all heating tubes are submerged in water to avoid burning out the instrument and causing water and electricity leakage. But don't add too much water to avoid boiling and overflowing.

6. If the water bath is used for a long time, the surface of the heating tube is prone to accumulate scale, impurities, etc. It should be cleaned regularly, otherwise it will cause a decrease in heating performance, and even damage to the heating tube due to poor heat dissipation and other reasons. Be careful when cleaning scale, do not vigorously tap the heating tube to prevent damage.

7. The wiring side of the water bath heating tube should always be kept dry and clean, and the outgoing wiring part must be completely exposed outside the moisturizing layer to avoid overheating and damage to this part of the circuit.
